Dr Loh Wah Sing has been involved in product-process development and technology management throughout his career. He has assumed senior postings dealing with chemicals, materials, high-performance computing, food, environmental technology, precision engineering in A*STAR ICES, IHPC, the former S’pore Productivity & Standards Board (PSB) and the former S’pore Institute of Standards and Industrial Research (SISIR).
His advisory roles include being the current Innovation Advisor, IPI S’pore, mentoring start-up teams of NUS-NTU’s Lean LaunchPad, GRIP and Pier71; Chair, S’pore Committee ISO/TC281, Fine Bubble Technology and Member, Editorial Review Board, Journal of Coatings Technology & Research. Past appointments include Executive Advisor, ILO-NUS; Senior Advisor, Fraunhofer Gesellschaft; Founding Director, R&D Co. of Nippon Paint SEA Group; Member, Board of Governors, Temasek Polytechnic & Chair, Advisory Committee of TP School of Applied Science, among others.
He developed and commercialised a water-based, algae resistant wall paint, resolving the perennial nuisance of microbial fouling on high-rise building facades in Singapore. The project earned an Innovation Award from the Institution of Engineers Singapore 1994.
Educated in chemical engineering from The University of Tokyo (BE), he held further degrees from NUS - MSc (Industrial & Systems Engineering), DBA and PhD in Science.
He is proficient in Chinese, English and Japanese language.
