IPOS conducts weekly complimentary IP Legal Clinics and IP Business Clinics services as part of its package of services for local businesses and individuals.

IP Legal Clinic

Our IP Legal Clinic provides Singapore citizens or Permanent residents and/or Singapore registered businesses with access to a selected panel of professional lawyers. 

This 45-minute consultation session allows the requestor to seek preliminary advice on IP infringement, before he/she decides on the next course of action. Requestor is required to pay a fee directly to the law firm before IPOS reimburses the requestor.

Mr George Hwang is an IP/IT and Media Lawyer with more than 20 years of experience. He has worked in many countries besides Singapore. They include UK, Hong Kong, Bulgaria, and Belgium. Besides practice, he has been in academia and in-house counsel.  

George has appeared at various levels of Singapore’s courts, including a landmark case in the Court of Appeal. Many of the disputes he has handled are transborder. He believes that an effective IP dispute strategy has to take into account the IP registration system and the different modes of alternative dispute resolution.   

George has many articles published in international refereed journals and has contributed to books. He is also a Content Partner for Lexis Practical Guidance for IP/IT: M&A and Finance. Ms Gretchen Su is an intellectual property specialist and is highly experienced in the protection, commercialisation, and enforcement of intellectual property rights.
