Deputy Secretary of the CPC Guangzhou Development District (GDD) Administrative Committee Mr Tan Minghe visited Singapore from 7-10 May 2018 to meet Singapore agencies and companies participating in the joint development of the Sino-Singapore Guangdong Knowledge City (SSGKC). His visit was to follow-up on the recent announcement by Chinese President Xi Jinping to elevate the Sino-Singapore Guangdong Knowledge City (SSGKC) to a state-level bilateral project during a meeting with Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in Boao, Hainan, on 10 April 2018.
IPOS Assistant Chief Executive Mr Tan Shau En met the delegation with senior executives from Ascendas-Singbridge, the SSGKC joint venture company and Enterprise Singapore, as well as hosted the delegation to lunch. Mr Tan congratulated GDD on the upgrade of the SSGKC project, and reiterated IPOS’ commitment to work closely with GDD to leverage on SSGKC’s position as a State-Level IP Protection and Services Reform Pilot Zone” (国家知识产权保护和服务综合改革试点) to further bilateral IP collaboration. Mr Tan welcomed the possibility for innovative Chinese companies to use the SSGKC as a springboard to Singapore and beyond to manage their international IP portfolio and vice versa for Singapore companies to tap on the proposed IP pilot demonstration zone to better access the Chinese market.
