IPOS and WIPO exchange insights for greater connectivity among IP offices in ASEAN and beyond
29 Mar 2017 – IPOS had the honour of hosting Assistant Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Mr Yoshiyuki Takagi, on 9 Mar 2017. Mr Takagi leads the Global Infrastructure Sector in WIPO which facilitates the sharing of IP knowledge by developing sustainable knowledge infrastructures, free global IP databases, and common platforms to connect IP offices. Chief Executive of IPOS, Mr Daren Tang, as well as members of the senior management, were present to hear Mr Takagi share his insights on developing business solutions for IP offices, such as the WIPO Centralised Access to Search and Examination (CASE). The WIPO CASE system allows patent offices to securely share search and examination documentation related to patent applications, thereby facilitating work sharing programmes.
IPOS also had the opportunity to share how the Industrial Property Automation System (IPAS) could be better utilised to support major business processes of an IP office. IPAS is an integrated IP administration system that automates the processing of trade marks, patents and industrial design.
IPOS looks forward to continuing our close exchanges and working relationship with WIPO to help enhance connectivity among IP offices within ASEAN and beyond.
