IP Academy collaborates with Renmin University in IP training and competency development

06 Jun 2017 – On 3 June 2017, IPOS’ training arm, IP Academy Singapore (IPA) and China’s leading university, Renmin University, entered into a strategic collaboration agreement in intellectual property (IP) training and competency development. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Chairman of IPA and Chief Executive of IPOS, Mr Daren Tang, and Dean of Renmin University’s IP Academy, Professor Liu Chuntian, at the China IP Law Research Association Forum 2017 held in Beijing, China.
Under the MoU, IPA and Renmin University will cooperate to organise IP-related events, conferences, and industry trainings in Singapore and China for students, businesses, and government organisations. These programmes will highlight the importance of IP protection for economic development, value creation, innovation, and the protection of consumer rights.
In addition, the two organisations will offer international graduate school programmes and short training programmes on IP, as well as establish mutual recognition of training programmes for students of IPA and Renmin University.
This agreement is amongst the many partnerships that IPA has entered into recently with institutions from China. It is a testament to IPOS’ commitment to train and prepare Singapore’s workforce for today’s global markets. Other agreements forged include those with the Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City, Guangzhou’s Jinan University, and the Hong Kong-based International IP Commercialisation Council.
