Collective Management Organisations
A collective management organisation (CMO) is appointed by copyright holders to manage the rights in their copyright works. A CMO administers the licensing of rights, collection of royalties and enforcement of rights on behalf of the copyright holders. A CMO will then monitor the use of works, and collect licence fees on the copyright owners’ behalf.
If you intend to use a work protected by copyright, such as music or other sound recordings, you will need to be authorised and may obtain licenses from either the copyright owners, or from CMOs administering the relevant rights governing your use of such works.
