Look!! Who’s in Town?
It’s Detective IP and he has been making his rounds at the various primary schools around Singapore starting from May till November 2008!
Detective IP is IPOS’ very own icon who have proven to be quite a hit with the kids in his friendly and amicable getup as he brings the students along in his investigative journey together with Sean the “innovative” student” and Ms Sung, the “sometimes blur but always approachable” teacher.
We managed to ‘catch’ him in action at Griffiths Primary School and Bukit Panjang Primary School where he and his friends put up a skit to teach the students on just what IP (Intellectual Property) is all about.
Students were hugely entertained as they got involved in some interesting games and quizzes to test their IP knowledge in between the skit. Peals of laughter could be heard throughout the assembly area as students waved their hands frantically, hoping to be called upon to answer the questions or go on stage to participate in the games with attractive prizes like frisbees, post-its, movie posters and passes from MPA as well as book vouchers to be won.
Targeted at the upper primary students, the 20-minute skit combined with a 5-minute Q&A is an ideal way to educate students about the basics of IP like copyright, trade mark, patent and design in a fun and engaging way!
After the skit, students can then start their own “investigative journey” using the Detective IP File given to them to keep a record of their own IP creations!
