In conjunction with World IP Day, the HIP Alliance 2011 public outreach campaign kickstarted with a bang! Despite the light rain in the morning of 2 May, it did not dampen the moods of enthusiastic race participants.
Close to 200 members of the public, aged between 13 - 62, took part in the second edition of The Originals IP Race, as they embarked on an exhilirating half-day race in support for Intellectual Property. They raced, combat pirates, and navigated their way through various pit-stops laced with exciting challenges.
Themed "The Five Passion in Life", the objective of the race was to allow participants to understand that intellectual property (IP) can be found in every aspects of our lives, whether it is shopping, food, entertainment, sports or work and play. Therefore, through the race, participants were exposed to these 5 passions at the various pitstops where they learnt about geographical indicators, trademarks, copyright, and industrial designs.
Team "The Woohoooos" emerged as the champions and bagged prizes worth a total of $1,500. They also received a set of Microsoft Office 2010 software each. Coming in second place were trios, Numero Uno, and in third place, T.I.D.C.
