Singapore, 3 July 2009 – The Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) is inviting feedback from the public on proposed changes to Singapore’s patent system. This is part of a regular review to align the Patents legislation with Singapore’s economic development and trends in patent protection. Members of the public will have until 14 August 2009 to review and comment on the consultation documents which can be found at http://www.ipos.gov.sg.
The aim of this exercise is to obtain comments and suggestions from the public on the following aspects of Singapore’s patent system:
• Self-assessment regime
• Patent application process
• Extension of time
• Restoration
• Renewal reminder
• Second or subsequent new medical use claims
Members of the public as well as stakeholders are invited to give feedback on the proposed changes to Singapore’s patent system. Feedback should describe how the proposed changes and any other suggestions may affect stakeholders and the public. Feedback are to be submitted using the template provided through e-mail to IPOS_IPLawFeedback@ipos.gov.sg.
