Singapore To Host 3rd China-Singapore IP Conference

Singapore, 24 November 2008 – Singapore is hosting the 3rd China-Singapore IP Conference which is jointly organised by the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) of the People’s Republic of China and the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS). The conference which will be conducted in Mandarin, will be held at Novotel Clarke Quay on 27 November 2008.

Many Singapore enterprises are venturing into China and the one-day conference is a useful platform for knowledge-sharing about the patent and trade mark protection regime in China. Intellectual property (IP) experts from China will share the IP management experience of Chinese enterprises and the details of IP enforcement in China. Participants can gain a better understanding of the IP landscape in China to better protect and exploit their IP.

Following the Memorandum of Understanding that was signed between SIPO and IPOS, the conference is the third in the series of bilateral collaboration to promote a better understanding of IP in China and Singapore.

“The conference provides an excellent opportunity for organisations and individuals to find out the important facts to take note of when bringing their businesses and IP to China. We are glad to partner with SIPO to hold the conference for the third year.” said Ms Liew Woon Yin, Director-General, IPOS.

On the partnership between the two countries, Deputy Commissioner, Dr Li Yu Guang said, “Local companies will gain a better understanding of the IP regime in China. This conference is a good platform as a bridge for the exchange of knowledge between both countries.”

The prominent speakers who will share their insights and practical experiences at the 3rd China-Singapore IP Conference include:
- Ms Wu Jianping, Director, Trademark Application Division, State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC)
- Ms Wang Yanhong, Consultant, Legal Affairs Department, SIPO
- Mr Wang Zhichao, Senior Officer, Enforcement Administration Division, Patent Administration Department, SIPO
