Copyright (Excluded Works) Order 2007

Summary of Feedback received from the public consultation exercise held from 15th June to 15th August 2006

IPOS received feedback from several parties on the specified copyright material and performances; or specified classes of copyright material and performances, they wanted the Minister to exclude from the prohibition on the circumvention of technological access control measures. This summary only covers the feedback that was received during the period of the public consultation exercise.

Generally, the feedback indicated that most of the parties were satisfied with the specified copyright material and classes of material stated in the Copyright (Excluded Works Order) 2005.

There was also feedback from the education sector on rule 4(1)(b) that they would like the Minister to expand the types of obsolete “electronic locks” used to protect computer programs to reflect advances in technology.

In the event there are any proposed changes to the contents of the existing Copyright (Excluded Works Order) 2005, IPOS will arrange to prepare the new draft legislation and invite public feedback on the new draft in due course.
