Role of Hearings & Mediation Division

The Hearings and Mediation Division facilitates the resolution of disputes relating to the registration of -
Disputes arise when a party objects to the registration of any IP right above by another party.

How to raise an objection to the registration of an IP right
To understand the procedure relating to the hearing of disputes before the Hearings and Mediation Division and to find out how you can object to the registration of any IP right, please refer to:

Mediation
Before a matter proceeds to adjudication, the Division ensures that parties, where possible, explore mediation as an alternative to adjudication in order to arrive at an amicable settlement of the dispute.

Interlocutory Matters
The Division also deals with all interlocutory matters arising from the disputes such as applications for extensions of time, applications to amend pleadings and applications to file further evidence.

Adjudication and Grounds of Decision
When the dispute is adjudicated after a full hearing, written Grounds of Decision will be delivered. You can find the summaries of Grounds of Decision delivered in Trade Mark disputes here.
