• Profiling Singapore through International Events
Complementing the above are several high profile international, events co-organised by IPOS which further reinforces Singapore's position as a key contributor to the world's IP landscape.
These include:
- Policy Dialogue on Emerging Issues in the Field of Trademarks: The policy dialogue was held in July 2010 in collaboration between the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the United States Patent & Trade Mark Office (USPTO) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore (MFA) to study the many challenging issues confronting the administration of trademarks in the modern economic environment - one characterised by the constant introduction of new products and services.
- 4th China-Singapore Intellectual Property Conference with State Intellectual Property Office of the P.R.C. (SIPO): Titled ‘Realising the Potential of Your IP in Singapore and Around’, the 4th China-Singapore Intellectual Property Conference was held in Shanghai, China on 25–26 August 2010. The Conference provided China-based businesses and IP professionals an insight into Singapore’s IP regime, as well as highlighted potential IP protection and commercialisation opportunities in Singapore and the region.
8th Europe Asia Patent and Patent Information Conference 2010 (EAP2IC 2010): Co-organised with WIPO and European Patent Office (EPO), EAP2IC 2010 was held in Singapore on 13-14 October 2010. This event comprised a conference segment focused on eco-innovation and IP, followed by workshops on patent mapping. The patent mapping workshops received overwhelming response from interested participants.
- Regional Seminar on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in Intellectual Property (IP) Disputes: IPOS, in collaboration with the WIPO Singapore Office and the WIPO Arbitration & Mediation Centre, jointly convened this regional seminar on 8-10 November 2010. This was intended to increase the industry's familiarity with and understanding of arbitration and mediation case studies with a view to promoting the use of ADR for the resolution of IP disputes.
- Regional Workshop on Intellectual Property Financing and Valuation: Completing the 2010 annual work plan under the Singapore-WIPO MOU, this capacity building event held in December 2010 examined the current IP financing and valuation practices in different countries, and considered ways in which improvements in law and financing practices may assist right holders in maximising the value of their IP assets.
- 3rd Global Forum on Intellectual Property: IPOS supported IP Academy's key flagship forum themed "Turbulent Times: Onwards and Upwards for Intellectual Property?", held in Singapore on 6-7 January 2011, which was graced by the Guest of Honour, Minister for Law, Mr K Shanmugam. The forum brought together some of the world's most influential IP figures to address global IP issues and is a key event on the international IP calendar.
