Registries Division
• The Registries Division grants rights for all registrable IP, namely patents, trade marks, designs and plant varieties. With Customer Service and Computerisation departments also under its charge, the division aims to provide businesses and the public with efficient and effective services related to IP registration. As the main regulatory arm that provides the core functions of registering all IP rights in Singapore, the Registries Division ensures a balanced IP framework to support Singapore's economic growth through regular reviews of policies, procedures, service standards and systems.
Hearings and Mediation Division
• The Hearings and Mediation Division (HMD) hears various matters including inter partes trade mark opposition, invalidation and revocation cases; patent revocation cases; and design revocation cases. Before a dispute reaches adjudication, HMD also ensures that parties consider private negotiations and encourages an amicable settlement between the disputing parties where possible via case management conferences and pre-hearing reviews. HMD contributes to an environment that supports effective and efficient IP protection.
Policy Division
• The Legal Policy and International Affairs Department (LP-IAD) administers and facilitates the formulation and development of national IP policies, ensuring that national IP laws remain relevant in our fast-changing world.
